Recently, Shandong Comler Power Group Co., Ltd. and Sinohydro Bureau 7 Co., Ltd. have reached an important cooperation, successfully supplying 121kW diesel generator sets for the Nasuwakari Hydropower Project in Nepal. With high-quality power equipment, it guarantees the power demand for construction, operation and maintenance of key overseas hydropower projects, demonstrating the collaborative strength of China's power equipment manufacturing and infrastructure construction.
Located on the Trisuli River in northern Nepal, adjacent to the Jilong Port in Xizang, China, and about 146 kilometers from the capital Kathmandu, the Nasuwakari Hydropower Station is the third-largest under-construction hydropower project in Nepal and a benchmark project of China-Nepal energy cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. Adopting a run-of-river power generation design, the project has a total installed capacity of 111MW, equipped with three 37MW Francis turbine units. The main works include the head pivot, a 4.2km diversion tunnel, an underground powerhouse, a desilting basin and other facilities, with a total contract value of approximately 98 million US dollars.
Undertaken by Sinohydro Bureau 7 as the EPC general contractor, the project officially started in December 2015. During construction, it overcame multiple challenges such as complex geology and cross-border construction, achieving river closure for flood control in 2019 and successful diversion and closure in 2020. Currently, it has entered the critical stage of electromechanical installation and commissioning. Upon completion, the power station will generate over 400 million kWh of electricity annually, directly alleviating Nepal's power shortage and providing stable clean energy for local industries and people's livelihoods.
The 121kW diesel generator sets supplied by Comler Power this time are core power guarantee equipment for construction, emergency backup, commissioning and operation of the Nasuwakari Hydropower Station. Adopting internationally advanced engines and Comler's independent intelligent control system, the units feature rapid start-up, stable operation, low noise, environmental protection and remote monitoring. They can adapt to Nepal's plateau, rainy and complex geological environment, providing uninterrupted power support for project construction, electromechanical commissioning and temporary power supply.
This cooperation represents in-depth collaboration between China's power equipment manufacturers and large-scale infrastructure central enterprises:
For the project: High-quality domestic generator sets ensure power supply throughout the project cycle, facilitating efficient progress and on-time commissioning, and building a solid "power lifeline" for overseas projects;
For Chinese enterprises: Sinohydro Bureau 7 undertakes large-scale overseas hydropower projects with top engineering capabilities, while Comler Power provides supporting services with high-end equipment. Together, they demonstrate the whole-chain service capability of "Engineering + Equipment" of Chinese enterprises, enhancing the international recognition of Chinese standards, technologies and equipment;
For China-Nepal cooperation: As a key project of cross-border energy cooperation between China and Nepal, upon completion, the project will optimize Nepal's energy structure, create thousands of jobs, drive regional economic development, and deepen China-Nepal good-neighborly friendship and practical cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Based on century-old advanced European and American technologies, the company independently innovates to build the core brand "Comler". It owns 52 patents and over 40 professional qualifications, with an annual production capacity of over 5,000 generator sets. Its products cover the full range of low-noise, high-voltage, intelligent parallel operation and other series, passing ISO8528 international standard testing, and are exported to more than 30 countries and regions including Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa. With standardized production, efficient delivery and strict quality control, it has become a benchmark in the domestic generator set industry, serving large central enterprises such as PowerChina and Three Gorges Group for a long time, providing reliable power solutions for global infrastructure, energy and industrial projects.
Established in 1965, it is affiliated with Power Construction Corporation of China (Fortune Global 500), a large state-owned construction enterprise with special-grade qualification, headquartered in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The company possesses nearly 40 qualifications including special-grade general contracting for water conservancy and hydropower engineering, first-grade contracting for highway engineering, with over 12,000 employees and annual operating revenue exceeding 40 billion yuan.
Its business covers water conservancy and hydropower, municipal administration, rail transit, new energy and other fields. It has constructed more than 300 hydropower stations at home and abroad with a total installed capacity of over 60 million kW. Its international projects are distributed in more than 20 countries including Pakistan, Nepal and Malaysia. As a "leading force" in China's hydropower construction, Sinohydro Bureau 7 has become a leader in global hydropower and infrastructure construction with top technologies, high-quality projects and strong performance capabilities, continuously promoting Chinese infrastructure to "go global".
