Project Introduction
The Tina River Hydropower Development Project is Solomon Islands’ flagship large-scale renewable energy project, located on the Tina River about 20 km southeast of Honiara, the capital city. The installed capacity of the hydropower station is 15 MW. After completion, the annual power generation will reach 78 million kWh, which can meet 68% of the power demand of Honiara and benefit more than 100,000 local residents. The project includes roller compacted concrete dam, 3.2km headrace tunnel, powerhouse and supporting transmission facilities. During the long construction cycle, stable and high-performance diesel generator sets are essential as backup and construction power source to guarantee continuous construction under complex tropical island conditions.
