Use high-energy batteries. If the generator is equipped with a high-energy battery, it is essential to ensure heating or insulation for the battery. If the temperature in the generator room drops below 0°C, a battery heater should be installed to maintain the battery's capacity and output power. For generators operating in highly humid environments, heaters should be installed for the generator windings and control box to prevent short circuits or insulation damage caused by condensation inside.
Operation in extremely cold climates. For diesel generators, auxiliary starting devices should be added. Use fuel heaters or electric heaters to warm the coolant, fuel, and lubricating oil of a cold engine, raising the overall temperature of the engine to ensure smooth starting. When the generator room temperature is not lower than 4°C, install a coolant heater to keep the engine block temperature above 32°C.
Use low-temperature lubricating oil. Low-temperature lubricating oil should be used to reduce the viscosity of the oil, thereby improving its fluidity and minimizing internal friction resistance.
Operation in high-altitude plateau areas. When the engine of the generator set, especially a naturally aspirated engine, is used in plateau areas, the thin air prevents it from burning as much fuel as it would at sea level, resulting in some power loss. For naturally aspirated engines, the power loss is approximately 3% for every 300-meter increase in altitude. Therefore, when operating in plateau areas, a lower power output should be used to avoid excessive smoke and fuel consumption.
